Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on 5th September 1988 in a poor Brahmin family in Tiruttani, Tamilnadu. We celebrate his birthday as the Teacher’s Day all over India. Student Life:
He spent his student life in Madras. He was a very meritorious student. He came in first place with every test. Being born in a poor family, due to lack of financial resources, he continued his studies by various scholarships. In 1905, he received a post-graduate degree in philosophy from Madras Christian College. His point was, ‘The abstract idea of Vedanta philosophy’.
Working Life:
In 1918, he was appointed professor at the University of Mysore. This time his writings were published in several reputable journals. His first book, ‘The Philosopic of Rabindranath Tagore’ and his second book, ‘The Rain of Religion in Contemporary Philosophy’, was published in 1920. Then in 1952 he was selected the Vice-President of India and was selected the second President of India in 1962.
Achievements:
In 1931, he was honored by the British Knighthood. In 1954 he received the ‘Bharat Ratna’ award. Throughout the world he earned a reputation as a philosopher professor. He was invited to join the professor at various universities abroad.

১৯৮৮ সালের ৫ই সেপ্টেম্বর তামিলনাড়ুর তিরুট্টানিতে এক দরিদ্র ব্রাহ্মণ পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন ডঃ সর্বপল্লী রাধাকৃষ্ণাণ। তার জন্মদিনটিকে আমরা সারা ভারতবাসী শিক্ষক দিবস হিসেবে পালন করে থাকি। তিনি একাধারে ভারতের প্রথম উপরাষ্ট্রপতি ও দ্বিতীয় রাষ্ট্রপতিও ছিলেন।(Dr Radhakrishnan Essay)
ছাত্রজীবনঃ
তিনি তার ছাত্রজীবন মাদ্রাজে কাটিয়েছেন।তিনি অত্যন্ত মেধাবী একজন ছাত্র ছিলেন। প্রত্যেক পরীক্ষায় তিনি বরাবর প্রথম স্থান অধিকার করে এসেছেন। দরিদ্র পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করার ফলে তার আর্থিক সচ্ছলতা না থাকায় বিভিন্ন বৃত্তির দ্বারা তিনি তার পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যান। ১৯০৫ সালে তিনি মাদ্রাজের খ্রিষ্টান কলেজ থেকে দর্শন বিষয়ে স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি লাভ করেন। তার বিষয় ছিল, ‘বেদান্ত দর্শনের বিমূর্ত পূর্বকল্পনা’।
কর্মজীবনঃ
প্রথমে ১৯১৮ সালে তিনি মাইসোর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে অধ্যাপকের কাজে নিযুক্ত হন। এই সময় তার লেখা প্রকাশিত হত বিভিন্ন নামকরা পত্রিকায়। ১৯২০ সালে তার লেখা প্রথম গ্রন্থ , ‘দ্য ফিলোজপি অফ রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর’ এবং দ্বিতীয় লেখা গ্রন্থ, ‘দ্য রেইন অফ রিলিজিওন ইন কনটেম্পোরারি ফিলোজপি’ প্রকাশিত হয়। এরপর ১৯৫২ সালে তিনি ভারতের উপরাষ্ট্রপতি হিসেবে নির্বাচিত হন এবং ১৯৬২ সালে ভারতের দ্বিতীয় রাষ্ট্রপতি হিসেবে নির্বাচিত হন।
সম্মান ও পুরস্কারঃ
১৯৩১ সালে তাকে ‘ব্রিটিশ নাইটহুড’ দ্বারা সম্মান জানানো হয়। ১৯৫৪ সালে তিনি ‘ভারতরত্ন’ পুরস্কার প্রাপ্ত হন। সারা বিশ্বে তিনি দার্শনিক অধ্যাপক হিসেবে সুখ্যাতি অর্জন করেছিলেন। দেশ বিদেশের বিভিন্ন বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে তিনি আমন্ত্রন পান অধ্যাপকের কাজে যোগ দেওয়ার জন্য।
